Psychotherapy

As a psychotherapist for over 30 years, Marla brings warmth, compassion, and expertise to helping individuals, couples, parents, families and groups to heal and transform their lives, so that they experience balance, well-being, and joy. She believes that every difficulty provides the possibility for evolution and growth.

Marla works with her clients to discover resources for making healthy choices and changes in dealing with relationship issues, trauma, separation and divorce, anxiety, depression, parenting and mothering, addiction recovery, life transitions, and inter-generational issues. She currently has offices in Washington, D. C. and Silver Spring, MD.

Marla graduated from the University of Michigan, cum laude, and has M.A. and Ph. D. degrees in clinical psychology from Long Island University. Committed to her own life-long learning, Marla has received advanced training in family and couples therapy, healing trauma, chemical dependency recovery, mind-body modalities, positive psychology and is a certified professional coach. Her background includes training in collaborative divorce and interest-based negotiation and mediation skills.
